Eight Years and Counting

For the past eight years, I've dedicated myself to advancing in the Identity sector, aiming to contribute my expertise and passion to a forward-thinking company.
Throughout this journey, I've engaged in numerous interviews with different organizations. One significant encounter was with Okta, where I explored roles across different departments, yet received generic responses post discussions, underscoring the challenge of finding the right fit.
Similarly, Delinea connected with me on LinkedIn directly, but unfortunately feedback was not forthcoming following our initial dialogue, highlighting the common hurdle of communication gaps in the hiring process.
Ping Identity mandated pre-employment assessments like the CCAT (Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test), but silence followed completion as per the guidelines.
Most recently, I advanced to the final stages at SailPoint, only to discover that lacking internal connections led to a missed opportunity, emphasizing the significance of networking in recruiting decisions.
Across these encounters, a recurring theme emerged where recruiters and hiring managers acknowledged my profound understanding of identity-related concepts, reflecting on the evolving dynamics of expertise within the industry.
Reflecting on these experiences, I pose an open question to industry CEOs Todd McKinnon, Art Gilliland, Andre Durand, and Mark McClain: What will the future of hiring look like in 2025? Will referrals continue to dominate, or will there be a shift towards appreciating diverse experiences and industry dedication?
Fortunately, I remain resilient and persistent, committed to making an impact in the Identity space regardless of these challenges.
