In this episode of Product do's and don'ts, let's delve into the intricacies of login pages, a crucial aspect often overlooked by many Product teams.

Recently, I encountered two instances highlighting the pitfalls associated with the "Forgot Username" feature. In the first scenario, upon selecting the forgot username option, I expected to see my challenge question, only to be left without any question displayed, leading to a frustrating experience.

In the second scenario, uncertainty arose when attempting to retrieve a forgotten username for an account I was unsure of creating. Instead of a clear notification of the non-existence of the account, code was presented, which lacked user-friendliness.

Interestingly, these usability flaws were observed within renowned insurance and AI organizations, underscoring the significance of meticulous end-to-end user journey testing. Uncovering such issues proactively can prevent user dissatisfaction and unnecessary support ticket escalations.

Remember, ensuring a seamless user experience demands attention to detail and continuous testing to address unforeseen challenges.
