In 2017, I started troubleshooting RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) for enterprise customers, grappling with the intricacies of roles, permissions, and resource definitions.
Contemplating the potential of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to alleviate the myriad challenges faced by these organizations is now a recurring thought.
A timely article written by David Lee via his Identity Jedi newsletter in March shed light on this very topic, exploring "Can AI Finally Solve the Role-Based Access Control Nightmare?" The article can be accessed here: https://www.theidentityjedi.com/p/can-ai-finally-solve-the-role-based-access-control-nightmare
David's findings suggest that while AI can "enhance" RBAC, he advocates for exploring more dynamic models like ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control), Behavior-Based Access, and Zero Trust Access, steering away from traditional methods.
I invite insights from fellow Identity professionals on their experiences with integrating AI into authentication and authorization strategies. Have you successfully leveraged AI to fortify security measures in your practices?
