When AI Misses the Mark

In the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we often marvel at its applications across various sectors like health, finance, and social domains. However, have you ever encountered instances where AI falls short of its "intelligent" title? I often caution that organizations without the expertise of Data Scientists should proceed with caution when delving into AI, especially when dealing with Large Language Models (LLMs). Missteps in understanding these models can lead to misinterpretations and the blurring of lines between reality and fiction.
Recently, I had a firsthand experience with an AI-powered interview process. Following the conclusion of my previous contract in April, I embarked on the journey of seeking my next professional opportunity. The excitement of receiving an email inviting me to an AI-conducted interview was palpable in today's competitive job market.
The interview was segmented into three parts, with each section featuring a virtual interviewer posing questions for me to answer live and then submit my responses. While the concept seemed seamless, the reality proved otherwise. One of the major issues I encountered was the AI interviewer's slow pace of speech. This led to inadvertent interruptions on my part, assuming their questions had concluded prematurely, resulting in incomplete and inaccurate responses.
The repercussions were swift - I did not progress to the subsequent round, a significant setback in the current job landscape. This experience underscores the challenges and limitations that can arise when AI interactions deviate from expected norms.
